Want to become/renew as a coach?
Step 1: Reach out to Jane at ridepiedmontmtb@gmail.com to send you the Pitzone coach invite.
Step 2: Register on Pitzone, check your current level, and complete the requirements below.
Level 1: background check, Participation Agreement, coach license fee
Level 2 (Assistant Coach/Ride Lead): Level 1 + On-the-Bike Skills 101 (fall only, one-time) + First Aid/CPR (renews every 2 years)
Level 3 (Head Coach/Director): Level 2 + additional NICA requirements
Piedmont MTB will reimburse all costs related to becoming a coach. Just track your receipts, take photos of them, and send them to ridepiedmontmtb@gmail.com for reimbursement.
Beyond compliance, your NICA license gets you insurance coverage while coaching, ensures every adult around our riders is background-checked, and unlocks perks/discounts from NICA sponsors.

There are several choices, Otis Guy, Sierra Rescue, American Red Cross, and the Mega Mendo Retreat.

Otis Guy is offering CPR/First Aid September 26, 2026, 2–5 pm at Archie Williams High School, San Anselmo. Sign-up closes September 24 at noon

Oakland Composite is targeting October 10 for a Sierra Rescue training and there are more spots available. Let Jane know if this interests you. Sign up information is still pending.
